Marius Barbu was appointed COO in April 2026 after serving as Group Asset Director for four years, where he was responsible for optimising the performance of the Company’s investment portfolio of 57 retail assets and overseeing the asset management team. His responsibilities included developing and implementing investment strategies, refining the tenant mix across the portfolio and leading key strategic priorities in operations, marketing, and business transformation at Group level, resulting in a strong contribution to NEPI Rockcastle’s operational excellence and value creation.
He joined the Company as Head of Asset Management in 2012, ahead of its 2017 merger with Rockcastle, a retail real estate company with a significant portfolio in Poland and the Czech Republic. Having been part of NEPI’s growth story from its early days (founded in 2007) when the company owned just two shopping centres and one development site in Romania, he has played a central role in shaping the organisation’s expansion and evolution.
